Domains, badges, slide shows n stuff.
MUSIC SLIDE SHOW SPANNING THE YEARS
I found the alumni did produce a school song (never heard any student body wing it) If the first yearbook was in 1907 ...
choosing an iconic pic of each yearbook dissolving it into the next with that song or words might make a nice video.
You can integrate stills and videos. The last time I went to Mt. P. I was just gonna take photos but the clouds looked nice.. I did not have a solid support for the camera so this one was shaky.. but it is how video/pics can be combined https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTZwfRU1YOY
In your video production you could use your own music.. maybe alumni people with talent.
There might need be an expansion on the words. Because of the trees and inability to get back far enough our school has no great photos, maybe a photoshopper could create one.
As our schools r fading in the past and soon an new one .. videos could be expanded. You can create a play list on youtube and arrange the sequence
DOMAINS
Domains are markers on a hard drive.. .net, .edu, .org .. .com was sought at most If you copied the link from this group or most others it would be looooong.
Below is one on your page, that long domain name kind of hard to remember but if the link was to your domain, all of this could be given. Your main page having links to events, yearbooks.. what ever.
Now a domain is less than $20 a year.. most good names are taken and some sell for hundreds, thousands.
Once you have a domain, it can link to endless other FREE pages, videos what ever is on the internet.
Trying to think of one not yet taken, I thought of one that would fit the alumni group.. 8 characters long Easy to add to any shirts, badges, created to promote your group.
Google blogs are free and I tie my domains to blogs
If you click on risingpark.blogspot.com, it will take you to my domain risingpark.com .. all my stuff is on the blog pages if I ever lost the domain, my stuff would still be there.
You can register the blog site with the same name as the domain you chose.
The name I suggested is not common so you can probably create a gmail account that is the same.
With no consideration to photo badges, people will sell merchandise connected to the alumni and they will have reunions and events connected to the alumni.. if they place your web address in their promotion it will take people to the home page you adopted.
As the owners of that blog you can give pages to people to make their pitch... because you created the blog, you can add a footer so every page created will display that information at the bottom.
So if they published their 2000 event on your blog, the bottom line could be
LHS ALUMNI SINCE 1907
JOIN OUR GROUP HERE
That would be a link to your group
I moved my domains to google because I use their free blogs, youtube, maps n stuff. Having those who operate the school groups, there can be multiple admins .. might be able to register it to your alumni.
If you wanna give it a spin, I will send the fee for two years so you can register the domain in your name.
TEMPORARY FB PROFILE PICS
A stock pic could be used or with some photoshop friend you could create temporary profile pics to promote the almuni.
I figure the Gales Mascot should be included because all who went to LHS would know at a glance.
I did an experiment here explained.. when used as a temporary profile pic..
Of course when you used it, everyone who reads your post would see the pic and info
Once the blog creator has it registered they can make others admins.
Google has so many free utilities I chose them
There are lots of alumni for different years. People join and drift away.. maybe some find it.
BADGES
In class reunions I have seen them give out name tags with pics from schools. They could also be a badge.. if you walk around the fair.. any public place you could produce individual badges.. with what ever each person wanted
The tornado, their grad pic, a pic of them with their best pal, a pic of them in some activity.
With a badge making machine people could have individual images of them but the outer circle would have the domain name.
Machines are about $200 n you would need a place to do it. Maybe some business of one of the grads.
If there were many pics you could send them to Walmart and pick them up. If there were just a couple you could print them on your home printer.
What kind of finish.. I don't know ?
What about the pins on the back .. hmmmm ?
"Clear pin badges" I guess you just cut out your pic and snap them in the clear badge .. no machine needed?
You might have a couple people research the different options and watch youtube howto videos.
I had some photo buttons made. Had to wait a while and they were over $2.00 each for the 2.5 badges
In school we had math.. word problems to figure out.
How much is the badge maker
How many badges come with it.
How much do blanks cost when you reorder
How much do prints cost.
How much might it cost in mistakes...
There could be a stock image for anyone who just wanted to be connected. I chose the tornado with the mt p background because that logo and background spans all schools
No dispute of what badges design would be, anyone could pick an image to fit their fancy.
Lots of people do not have photo editing skills. Once you selected the badge size and print size, the pic would have to take a certain amount of space on that print.
They could put the year they graduated, their school in the background.. what ever
What ever design, what ever the promotion piece was, the only thing that was a constant would be the domain name you chose.
